After the presidential debate against Donald Trump, President Biden made an appearance at an Atlanta Waffle House. The president’s demeanor drew humorous comments from users on social media, poking fun at Biden.
Footage captured by an individual inside the restaurant shows the president’s team walking in before the First Lady and the president enter the establishment. Jill enters first, greeting patrons and waving to onlookers. Joe follows in behind, pausing to squat down in an unusual, hunched-over position before crossing the threshold and appearing to look straight at the camera.
Biden then enters the Waffle House, where he shakes the hand of the man recording and jokes with him. However, users on X have jokingly commented under the video, honing in on the president’s odd posture. “Pooped ’em,” one person wrote. “I thought he was sick,” another wrote.
One user defended the president from the onslaught of jokes, writing, “To be fair…who don’t crap themselves before walking in a Waffle House?” Another user pointed out that it was “amazing” that Biden wasn’t met with a chaotic scene upon entering the restaurant. “Amazing. No chairs were thrown during the making of this news clip,” they said. Waffle House often receives the reputation of becoming an unruly establishment in the late hours of the evening.
Notably, President Biden appeared to have more energy and charisma in the Waffle House footage than he did earlier in the evening on the debate stage. One person asked in the comments section, “Where was this somewhat likable guy at the debate?”
Speaking to reporters at the Waffle House, Biden expressed his opinion that the debate went well for him. “I think we did well,” Biden told reporters. When asked if he had any concerns about his performance Biden indicated that he didn’t, before immediately pivoting to calling Trump a liar. He said, “No it’s hard to debate a liar, New York Times pointed how he lied 26 times. Big lies.”
While Biden may have been optimistic about his performance during the debate, there has been a firestorm across liberal media, where commentators question whether the president should even be the Democratic nominee later this year. Watch Biden’s Waffle House appearance below:
The American Tribune reported on comments from a panel on CNN that provided a post-debate assessment of President Biden, illustrating how Democrats are in an “aggressive panic.” CNN host John King claimed that high Democrats are actively discussing the path forward, where they may seek to replace Biden.
“Anderson, this was a game-changing debate in the sense that right now as we speak, there is a deep, a wide, and a very aggressive panic in the Democratic Party. It started minutes into the debate and it continues right now. It involves party strategists; it involves elected officials; it involves fundraisers. And they’re having conversations about the president’s performance, which they think was dismal, which they think will hurt other people down the party in the ticket and they’re having conversations about what they should do about it.”
He continued, “Some of those conversations include should we go to the White House and asked the president step aside? Others are, other the conversations are about should prominent Democrats go public with that call. But because they feel this debate was so terrible, they do say in moments in a debate later, the president got better and got his footing. But then at the end, even his closing statement was a little halting.”
