Famous actor Rob Schneider recently announced that he would no longer be watching the Olympics after the controversial opening ceremony that many believe was an overt mockery of “The Last Supper.” Amid the outpouring of criticism against the Olympic Games from Christians worldwide, Schneider announced that he would no longer be watching the competitions.
“I am sorry to say to ALL the world’s GREATEST ATHLETES, I wish you ALL THE BEST, but I cannot watch an Olympics that disrespects Christianity and openly celebrates Satan,” the famous actor shared in a July 28 post on social media. “I sincerely hope THESE @Olympics get the same amount of viewers as @cspan,” Schneider further wrote on X.
In another post, Schneider referenced an incident in the ceremony in which the testicles from one of the drag queens could allegedly be seen protruding from their shorts in very close proximity to a child. “Guys with their genitalia hanging out in front of children?! Drag Queens?! I wasn’t sure if I was watching the @Olympics or if I was watching a school board meeting…” he said, seemingly taking a jab at how woke many school districts have become with gender ideology.
Schneider’s outrage to the ceremony makes sense, given his recent conversion to Catholicism. Last year, The American Tribune reported on comments from the actor demonstrating his desire to spread “Christ’s forgiveness” after he converted. He noted that he felt particularly compelled to forgive the acts “coerced” upon society during the pandemic.
“Lastly, as I am a new convert to Catholicism, I offer my apology for my lack of Christ’s forgiveness to my fellow man. I was so angry at the people who shut down schools and indeed the world and who coerced others to do things against their will which hurt many people deeply. I offer my unconditional forgiveness and amnesty,” he said, announcing his conversion to Christianity.
The Olympic ceremony has drawn responses from a number of high-profile individuals across society, such as fitness entrepreneur Jillian Michaels. The American Tribune previously reported on her comments where she blasted the “hypocrisy” and “lack of understanding” despite being a part of the LGBT community herself.
She posted on social media, “Dear fellow gays… We demand tolerance and respect but then make a mockery of something sacred for over 2 billion Christians. This type of hypocrisy and lack of understanding is a bad look. We get outraged when the extreme right bashes us, but then we do this shit. What kind of reaction do you think they will have towards the LGBTQ+ community after this. This is NOT how we break down barriers it’s how you build them.”
Furthermore, outspoken Christian actress Candace Cameron Bure also commented on how saddening and disgusting it was to see her faith so brazenly mocked at the highly anticipated Olympic Games, an event that should bring the world together instead of dividing it. However, she offered a message of encouragement to her followers to keep doing good works in the name of the Lord.
“So this is my encouragement to you. Don’t get tired of doing good. Keep sharing the gospel. And it’s not just for the people that like openly mock God. There’s so many people – there’s Christians out there that say, ‘Well I’m a Christian, it didn’t really bother me.’ Those people need to hear the gospel too. It’s the ones that are lukewarm about it that may think like, ‘Ah – I don’t want to ruffle any feathers. Live and let live. Let people do what they want. I’m just gonna stay in my corner and be quiet about it,’” she said.
